White Death

Overview

The White Death is a vast frozen wasteland occupying the northernmost reaches of Anash'col. It is the coldest region on Ilisara's surface. No civilization has ever taken root there. No roads or trade routes exist in the White Death.
The White Death is named not for snow alone but for the quality of death it offers: silent, cold, and absolute. Blizzards can last for weeks. Temperatures drop low enough to freeze exposed skin in minutes. The landscape is featureless in every direction. Its flat white plains are broken only by the occasional ice shelf or frozen river.
Inhabitants
There are rumors of nomadic tribesmen in the White Death. Unconfirmed rumors of hedonism, cannibalism, and worship of Vandun are rampant in the "scary children's tales" that these tribesmen are referred to in. They are considered savages by the people of Kuenugarth and Great Borea. No formal contact has been established with them and they are hostile to outsiders.
Significance
Great Borea's northern frontier ends where the White Death begins, and no Borean ruler has ever attempted to claim territory beyond that line. When a cosmic threat called the Hunger threatened Ilisara, a brave expedition of heroes traversed the White Death to find its weakness, but they survived only because they rode with silver dragons adapted to the cold.
